Creating Checks without Vendor ID setup

Is there a way in SL to cut a check without creating a vendor? We have numerous checks to issue that will only be issued once for a small amount. I did not want to have to create numerous vendors for this and wondered if there is a way to issue a check without creating multiple vendors. I used to do this in GP but I don't see the option in SL.
